Voice acting is pretty decent, nothing extraordinary but works absolutely fine. I did enjoy the music in the game and it did blend in nicely with the post-apocalyptic scenery. Stupid subtitles, I really don’t like subs, I find them immersion breaking. My only minor annoyance was the subtitles which kept resetting every time I exited the game. The mouse and keyboard controls are fine but I didn’t get a chance to try the game with a gamepad. Regarding problems I had only a visual bug that went away by fast travelling and a mission bug which I am pretty sure I did something that the devs did not expect. – Farrow right before blowing some bandit’s brains out. The game could use a couple more options.įortunately the game’s nature makes it playable even on low frames due to the isometric camera and especially its turn-based combat mechanics (which is obviously much slower compared to real-time combat). I know that my PC is not the best (or a high-end) but I was expecting better scalability and definitely better framerates on Low settings. There are several graphics options and some of them do impact the performance considerably. I couldn’t maintain stable 60 frames even when I dropped everything on low. Unfortunately the game does not run great. Whatever the case it might be, everything – and when I say everything I mean everything, even the game’s physics – are pretty great. Graphically, the game looks really nice and I can go as far to say that it perhaps looks better than XCOM 2 though I don’t think it is better than Divinity 2. At the beginning I thought Dux (on the right) was a penguin! This is a niche game that borrows a lot of things from XCOM and gives it a very interesting twist. The initial plan for the game was to be open-world but thankfully the devs decided against it. The Bearded Ladies (yes that is their glorious name) are the people behind it and if we want to be precise, the game is based on the Swedish (the devs are also Swedish btw) table-top RPG. These games were frigging awesome sauce and I am almost certain Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden’s developers will agree with me. I was never a big fan of turn-based combat and isometric role playing games until I had the pleasure of playing XCOM and Divinity Original Sin.
